The ET (Economic Times) Health world Summit was held on Friday, the 13th of March, 2020 at New Delhi. The event was inaugurated by Shri Sidharth Nath Singh – Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, MSME & Export Promotion, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
NU Hospitals – Bengaluru, India was the proud recipient of the award for ‘The Best Hospital – Urology’ at the National level (All India level). The award was given away by Mr. Arun Sharma IAS & Dr. Prof K Y Gupta. Mr. Narayanamurthy V and Ms Sahana Paul received the award on behalf of the NU Hospitals team. This award is one of the most prestigious awards to be bestowed in the healthcare sector.
In an exclusive interview with ET Healthworld.com, Mr. Narayanamurthy V (Manager – Operations & Hospital Projects) & Ms. Sahana Paul (Unit Head – Padmanabhanagar, Bangalore) of the NU Hospitals team and proud awardees shared their views on the current situation of healthcare in the city and the environmental-friendly efforts being made by NU Hospitals to better serve their patients, while keeping the environment as a priority. Mr. Narayanamurthy and Ms. Sahana said that this initiative was very essential and fulfilled the need of the hour in a world impacted by climate change. She said that this was going to be an eye-opener for all new setups, hospitals, and entrepreneurs and would introduce new IT avenues for the existing hospitals. They also expressed that they are also in the midst of constructing a chain of hospitals in Karnataka and on an international scale as well. They expressed their gratitude for having been invited to this prestigious event.
They then went on to explain that in all their hospitals built in Karnataka and out of state, all kinds of solar initiatives have been installed to save electricity and water, amongst other vital resources. They have developed a lot of greenery, gardens around the hospital premises, open and airy walking spaces, and are also practicing rainwater harvesting. All the NU Hospitals buildings have huge windows which allow natural light to enter to help reduce the burden of electricity usage. The duo expressed that these are some of the few green initiatives that NU Hospitals is carrying out. They also use special blocks which are airy and light and do not decompose quickly, and use all kinds of similar construction materials which are environment-friendly.
Ms. Sahana also keenly shared that they received an award for their steps in the green initiative just two months ago. ET Hospital Awards
