Dr Krishna Prasad T is a trained urologist and transplant surgeon with work experience in leading centres in India and UK . His training at Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre, India's largest stand-alone Nephro-Urology hospital and India's only transplant university, has given him a vast exposure to various complex transplant clinical scenarios, in both live and cadaver kidney transplants, supported by additional exposure to the deceased donor transplantation process in adults and children in the UK by a stint as Clinical Fellow at the University Hospitals of Leicester and as a visiting fellow to the Nottingham Children's Hospital.

His passionate interest in providing durable vascular access for patient with chronic renal failure has seen him travel across the globe to understand access practices in various countries and amalgamate them into local service. He was awarded Fellowships to visit the Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St Louis, USA and National University Hospital, Singapore to observe vascular access procedures. He believes providing a durable vascular access will mitigate many of the unforeseen costs on the road to a renal transplant.

The management of a potential paediatric or adult renal transplant recipient requires a multi-disciplinary approach; Dr Krishna Prasad believes at NU Hospitals this is possible by the synergism that exists between all the specialists involved in the care of the renal recipient.

His other area of speciality is minimally invasive surgery ( laparoscopy ) and robotic surgery for a wide ranging urological conditions. He consistently practices retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery which allows access to manage multiple renal and bladder issues without breaching the peritoneum.

He has authored peer-reviewed papers, and has won national awards for developing innovative modules to train urology residents.
